Complete renovation of a 60s home>|

Instead of knocking over this well-built home from the 60’s the owner decided to update the home to bring into the 21st century. The bathrooms kitchen, deck and the bedrooms were all updated. We matched the existing floor boards, roof tiles, reused the existing bricks and matched the cornices to blend in the new addition to the old.

I’m delighted to hand over this beautiful home.

A Complete Renovation That Preserved Character While Embracing Modern Living

This 1960s home renovation transformed a solid, well-built house into a contemporary family home while preserving the character and craftsmanship that made the original property unique.

Rather than demolishing the existing home and starting from scratch, the homeowners chose a complete renovation that modernised the property for today’s lifestyle. The project focused on upgrading key living areas, improving functionality, and seamlessly integrating new elements with the original structure to create a home that feels both timeless and contemporary.

Project Objectives

The homeowners wanted to:

  • Modernise their 1960s home.
  • Preserve the home’s original character and quality construction.
  • Renovate the kitchen and bathrooms.
  • Update the bedrooms and living spaces.
  • Add a new outdoor entertaining deck.
  • Blend the new work seamlessly with the existing home.

Renovating Instead of Rebuilding

Many older homes are built with exceptional craftsmanship and strong structural foundations. Instead of demolishing this well-constructed property, the homeowners recognised the opportunity to renovate and enhance what was already there.

This approach not only preserved the home’s character but also reduced unnecessary waste while retaining many of the quality materials that had stood the test of time.

Complete Home Renovation

The renovation included upgrades throughout the property, delivering a more functional and comfortable home for modern family living.

Works completed included:

  • Complete kitchen renovation.
  • Fully renovated bathrooms.
  • Refreshed bedrooms.
  • Construction of a new outdoor entertaining deck.
  • Interior updates throughout the home.
  • Modern finishes while respecting the original architecture.

Each space was carefully redesigned to improve everyday living while maintaining a cohesive look throughout the home.

Preserving the Original Character

One of the defining features of this renovation was the commitment to preserving the home’s original charm.

Rather than replacing every existing feature, careful attention was given to matching and reusing original materials wherever possible. This ensured the new additions blended naturally with the existing structure, making it difficult to distinguish between the original home and the renovated areas.

To achieve this, our team:

  • Matched the existing timber floorboards.
  • Reused original bricks where possible.
  • Carefully sourced matching roof tiles.
  • Replicated the original cornices and decorative details.
  • Integrated new construction seamlessly with the existing home.

This level of craftsmanship ensured the renovation respected the home’s history while delivering a fresh, modern finish.

Quality Craftsmanship & Attention to Detail

Successful renovations are about more than simply replacing old finishes—they require thoughtful planning and skilled workmanship.

Every detail of this project was carefully considered to ensure the renovated spaces complemented the original architecture while meeting modern building standards and lifestyle expectations. The result is a home that feels cohesive, functional, and beautifully finished from front to back.

The Result

This 1960s home renovation demonstrates how a carefully planned renovation can completely transform an older property without sacrificing its original character.

The modern kitchen, updated bathrooms, refreshed bedrooms, and new outdoor deck have significantly improved the home’s comfort, functionality, and liveability. By preserving original features and blending them with contemporary finishes, the homeowners now enjoy a home that combines timeless character with modern
